- End User: Kozloduy NPP, Bulgaria
- Realized: 2004 - 2006
Development, production and supply of the Free Release Measurement Facility for Kozloduy NPP.
Equipment and material considered by KNPP potentially suitable for free release shall be monitored through the Free Release Measurement Facility and, based upon the measurements made, a decision shall be made by KNPP on whether it can be free released, decontaminated further, or returned for disposal as waste. The overall intent of the process is to minimize the amount of radioactive waste from decommissioning operations which requires disposal as a large majority of the decommissioned equipment and components are expected to be capable of being free released and recycled into other uses.
