Supply and installation of Free Release Measurement Facility
VF company won, in March 2010, an international tender administered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, for the design, supply and installation of a system for the free release into the environment of materials coming from the decommissioned V1 plant, Jaslovske Bohunice.
- Client: European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, United Kingdom
- End User: JAVYS, Jaslovské Bohunice, Slovakia
- Realized: 2010-2011
During V1 NPP decommissioning, huge amounts of residual materials will be generated. The decisions concerning the future use and/or disposal will depend upon radiological status. Radioactive contaminated waste will be managed at authorized radioactive waste installations. Waste released from regulatory control can then be disposed of in conventional waste facilities, reused or recycled.
In 2010, VF company was successful in the international tender published by Bohunice International Decommissioning Support Fund (established and administered by EBRD) for the design, manufacture, delivery to site, installation and commissioning of the following equipment:
- Device for measurement of surface beta, gamma contamination.
- Device for IN-SITU measurement (gamma spectrometry device for release of civil structures as a whole from control).
- Large volume gamma scintillation chamber (for free release of metal objects in standard packages at the border of controlled area).
- Device for release of large-volume material from control (device for release of material in large containers, such as thermal insulation, construction debris and soil).
- Extension of the capacity of laboratory for determining RA vectors (laboratory gamma spectrometric set for sample measurement able to determine vectors for radiation characteristics of the decommissioned facility).
Some constructional and dismantling works, training of personnel, certification and support during operation are part of our scope of supply.
