- Client: Smolenskatomtechenergo
- End User: Smolensk NPP, Russia
- Realized: 2011
This newly supplied equipment will increase the level of radiation protection of workers in restricted zone at Smolensk NPP. The dispensers supplied have total capacity 6 500 electronic or film badge personnel dosimeters. The first stage of the supply was successfully completed and equipment put into operation. OSART mission, which was conducted soon after the installation and commissioning, evaluated these newly installed VF instruments as a good practise and recommended them for use in other nuclear power plants in Russia. The second stage was completed in December 2011. The dispensers of personnel dosimeters are special cases issuing the dosimeters only to the authorized persons after the successful identification with an ID card with, specifically at Smolensk NPP, bar code assigned to each worker. The small item contamination monitor a shielded chamber with detectors indicating the contamination of inserted small items and tools. Control software system was developed according to the Smolensk NPP specification and localized to Russian language.
The advantage of the VF DPD system is its versatility resulting in the possibility to use different dosimeters of different producers with different dimensions. It has also a optional possibility to check the contamination of the dosimeters being inserted directly in the dispenser.
